American Photographic Artists:

This organization started out as the Advertising Photographers of America and changed to become more inclusive. As a member, you can rub elbows with some of the top photographers in the world. Of all of the money I spent to become a photographer, this was one of the best expenditures.  APA has branches all over. I was a member of the Atlanta branch and was glad that I joined.  The forums are a source of some of the best advice you can get in photography.

APA Forums:

American Society of Media Photographers:

The ASMP is a national organization, which focuses on media photography, and is a great source of information about working in that field.  The ASMP Pro Advice forum on Yahoo Groups provide a wealth of information from top photographers.
