Halloween 2004

My brother, Jim, is a prominent horror writer and Halloween is probably his favorite holiday. Jim, his wife, Bonnie, and her family go all out each Halloween, spending weeks preparing the yard with a 30-foot-tall skeleton, graveyard and various monsters. My sister, Ro, joins in with friends and together they all terrorize the children in the neighborhood. The neighborhood parents love it. Sometimes cars pull in to the driveway and simply back out again, as the kids inside cannot take it. More than once I heard Bonnie say: "We've got another screamer." Those kids brave enough to actually make it to the front door come out of it with their lives, a story to tell and lots and lots of candy.
