Atlanta Veteran's Day Parade
The 26th Annual Atlanta Veteran's Day Parade started at 11:11 a.m. at the intersection of Peachtree Street and West Peachtree Street, winding its way down Peachtree Street, ending at Centennial Olympic Park. The Grand Marshall for this year's parade was Lieutenant General Russel L. Honoré, Commanding General of the 1st Army. Many people are familiar with General Honoré because he was the commander of Joint Task Force Katrina, responsible for coordinating military relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina-affected areas across the Gulf Coast. The parade was organized by the Georgia Veteran's Day Parade Association of Atlanta, Inc. The US Army Forces Command Honor Guard and Band leads the parade, followed by the Grand Marshal, distinguished guests (including Vice Marshalls Colonel Douglas Hardison - Commanding Officer USMC MAG 42 and Captain Bryan Cutchen - Commander Tactical Support Wing - Naval Air Station Atlanta), Veterans Groups, the Air Force Band of the South, military units, ROTC units, bands, and a colorful assortment of patriotic units.
